E3 2015: Sony Announcements

As the two biggest gaming rivals went head to head at E3 in LA, Sony put a strong case forward for being the dominate force in the gaming world. Announcing new release after new release the Japanese company made some big announcements at the gaming event. Here is a rundown of what you might have missed.

Starting with a bang Sony announced the hugely awaited ‘The Last Guardian‘, the conclusion to the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus trilogy. The six year wait for the game was made worth it with a look at stunning visuals fans of the series have come to expect. The game play trailer shows a young boy and his pet something (too many different animals have gone into this one to count) tackling the terrain. ‘The Last Guardian‘ looks set to take us on a emotional roller coaster when it is released sometime in 2016. After that bombshell was dropped Sony continued with hit after hit. Next up on their new announcement conveyor belt was ‘Horizon: Zero Dawn‘. the latest release from the studio behind smash hit Killzone. The game is a thrilling post-apocalyptic look at the fall of civilization were the inhabitants have resorted to primitive weaponry in order battle the dangers that lurk around every corner.  Those dangers being massive robotic dinosaurs. Watch the game play trailer below…

Continuing a big day for fans of Japanese games it was announced that after 20 years Final Fantasy 7 is being remade. After years of fans begging for a remake so they can enjoy the classic game in glorious HD! The internet has exploded with fans freaking out about the announcement. The Square Enix’s (the games creators) share prices also jumped after the news. The game doesn’t have a release date but will be released on PS4 first before moving to other platforms.  Watch the trailer below…

Other new game announcements include a new Hitman game and the launch of a kickstarter campaign to fund the new Shenmue 3 game.

Away from the game side Sony announced more details about its new cloud based televison service PlayStation Vue. Vue users can subscribe to individual channels rather than multiple channel services, thus keeping costs for the user down. PlayStation Plus members can also get a discount.
