Top 15 must-have iPhone and iPad games

There’s nothing like a good iPhone or iPad game to keep you company on long commutes, or whenever you’re bored and too far away from your computer or console. We here at gamesGRABR are self-diagnosed addicts when it comes to smartphone and tablet games and thought we’d share with you the top 15 games we are currently playing on our iPhones and iPads…

1. Clash of Clans


Clash of Clans is an all-time favorite around the gamesGRABR offices. In this popular combat strategy game, you will be able to build and grow your own village and train troops to help you win battles with other players online. You can also set up clans with your friends or other Clash of Clans players, and attack players until you grow the best village there is. It’s a simple, yet oh so addictive game!

2. Dragonplay Poker

There are so many different poker games in the App Store that it can be quite difficult to sift through all of them to find the best. Dragonplay Poker is one of our personal favorites, especially because of its social aspect. You can use it to play poker with millions of other players from around the world, as well as with your Facebook friends, and you can choose from different types of poker games.

3. Super Hexagon


Super Hexagon is an incredibly addictive action game – it looks so simple, but don’t be fooled! It is a very difficult game, but it will make you want to do anything to get it right – and when you do get it right, you might find yourself exhaling a breath you didn’t even know you were holding!

4. Heroes of Dragon Age


Another great game from EA, Heroes of Dragon Age is perfect not just for Dragon Age fans, but anyone really. Start collecting heroes and epic monsters and become a legend, and then battle other players. It has lots of engaging daily events and quests that constantly keep the game interesting.

5. Eternal Uprising: End of Days

Ever dream of becoming the hero who saves and restores a ruined world? Eternal Uprising: End of Days is a highly entertaining card game that allows you to do just that. Embark in a world full of chaos and despair, populated with gods, angels and monsters and become the hero that everyone needs.

6. Animal Voyage: Island Adventure


Animal Voyage: Island Adventure is an extremely cute game where you have to save various animals from flooded island and bring them to your very own animal paradise. There are always new islands popping up and new animals to rescue, each one cuter than the other!

7. Team Monster


In this fun game, you will be placed on an island archipelago whose only inhabitants are some very adorable monsters. Start training and growing your monsters, and collect over 100 different ones, each with their own abilities, while also growing your island and unlocking cool new buildings and features.

8. New Star Soccer


New Star Soccer is a must have game for all football (or soccer for you Americans) fans. The game is free to play, with some in-app purchases that you might be compelled to purchase just because you can’t stop yourself, just to warn you. Before you download this game however, consider yourself warned that you will also not be able to stop playing it, and you might find yourself taking out your phone/iPad whenever you have a second of free time. The concept behind the game is pretty simple: it’s an RPG where you will be growing your own football player, starting as a 16 year old novice and growing him to become the next football legend. You will be playing matches, doing interviews and even buying stuff and signing sponsorship deals.

9. Plants vs. Zombies 2


The Plants vs. Zombies sequel has not disappointed and we’re still playing it months and months after its release. We might even go as far as to say that we like it more than the original Plants vs. Zombies game, and we especially like that it is completely free, with lots of new plants and zombies and hours and hours of gameplay. If you haven’t tried any of the two Plants vs. Zombies games, it is one of the most popular tower defense games available in the App Store. Basically, you have to protect yourself against zombies with the various plants you have at your disposal. Be careful though – it’s definitely one of the more addictive games in the App Store.

10. The Simpsons: Tapped Out


If you love The Simpsons as much as we do, you will probably love the opportunity to rebuild Springfield from scratch in this beautiful game. It’s a simple city-building game where you basically build your own Springfield, and slowly uncover your favorite Simpsons characters by completing various quests. You will however need to have an Internet connection to play this game.

11. The Sims Freeplay


Whether you’ve played Sims on other platforms before or not, the Sims Freeplay game is perfect for anyone who likes building families, and cities. The game looks amazing, and it’s hard to believe it’s completely free. You will be able to build an entire city full of sims, and grow them from babies to adulthood, build beautiful houses and purchase amazing furniture for your dream house.

12. Minecraft – Pocket Edition


Minecraft Pocket Edition might be a bit expensive for an iPhone/iPad game, but it’s definitely worth the money – there’s a reason why its been such a popular game for years and years. The idea behind it is very simple – all you have to do is place blocks in order to build anything you can think of, and go on exciting adventures. This edition also includes Survival and Creative modes and even multiplayer over a local Wi-Fi network.

13. Angry Birds Star Wars


There are numerous different Angry Birds versions, but our favorite is Star Wars, although that might be because we simply love Star Wars a bit too much. So if you feel like shooting birds in space with the help of some of the most beloved movie characters of all time, then this game is for you!

14. LEGO Batman: DC Super Heroes


If you’ve recently seen LEGO The Movie, then you, like us, are probably in great need of more LEGO in your life. The LEGO Batman: DC Super Heroes iPhone game is definitely fit to fill that void. It’s a truly entertaining game where Batman, Robin, Superman and other DC super heroes unite in order to stop Lex Luthor and The Joker from destroying Gotham City.

15. Mikey Shorts


If you’re a fan of Super Mario Bros and other similar games, then you’ll probably love Mikey Shorts. It’s a pretty basic game, where you run, jump and slide to collect coins and ultimately save the day. It’s a relatively short game, but it will hook you from the first few seconds of gameplay, and if you’re like us, you won’t be able to stop until you’re done. There are 6 different environments, 84 levels and 2 game modes that will surely keep you entertained. And if you feel like you need more Mikey Shorts in your life once you’ve finished the game, try the awesome sequel, Mikey Hooks and the Mikey Shorts Halloween edition game.
